"My Belly" MP3
Some years ago, I made a children's song about otters for a project that didn't materialize. It was supposed to surface several times over the years, but never quite made it out there.
You can DL My Belly now for free, and enjoy this wonderful Jeremy Fish otter illustration while listening. Song mixed by Joey Raia.

After 3 years in remission, Hail Mary Mallonhas returned, iller than ever. Comprised of two of the most verbose MC's in Hip-Hop today, Aesop Rock and Rob Sonic... Hail Mary Mallon prepares to unleash their second full-length release, Bestiary. Individually, these two lyricists are well known for wordy expressions eliciting oft-despondent themes. Together, however, they appear to push one another to the limits of humorously witty wordplay, while simultaneously crafting complex rhyme patterns. The very title of the album, Bestiary, was inspired by the fact that they both went into beast mode, here.
The group's hunger comes across in more than just the lyrics, though. With both Aesop & Rob sharing production duties, the album is laden with hypnotic beats ranging from dense & murky to melodic & twisting, all complemented by the cutting precision of turntablist DJ Big Wiz. As if all that wasn't enough, there's also the artwork, a masterpiece taxidermy gallery of outlandish beasts, conceived and illustrated by the talented Coro. For a limited time, this album artwork will be available with 3 different covers to choose from, each depicting a different beast head, on CD and picture-disc vinyl!

After years of performing live together and appearing on each others solo albums, critically acclaimed mcs/producers Aesop Rock and Rob Sonic, along with DJ Big Wiz, come together as Hail Mary Mallon and deliver their Rhymesayers debut Are You Gonna Eat That?. The name and album title are inspired by Mary Mallon aka Typhoid Mary, the first person in the U.S. identified as a healthy carrier of the pathogen associated with typhoid fever. Mary Mallon was presumed to have infected 53 people, three of whom died, over the course of her career as a cook. She spent three years in quarantine, which is where she died. Are You Gonna Eat That?is full of powerful dense production and witty word play courtesy of Aesop Rock and Rob Sonic. Add some turntable wizardry from DJ Big Wiz and this trio is destined to be as infectious as Typhoid Mary herself.

Grimace Federation "The Measure In Mixture"
Coming off his latest Rhymesayers release,Bestiary, as part ofHail Mary Mallon,Aesop Rockrecently collaborated with friends, the experimental group from Philly,Grimace Federation. Previously, the two worked together on Aesop Rock's Skelethon album, as well as Aesop's butchered remix of "Bosico", from Grimace Federation's On Velvet album.
Grimace Federation's sonic collages create a symphonic, cinematic, and immense sound. The band's musical foundation could be discovered in the grooves of records from post-rock legends such as Jaga Jazzist, Tortoise, and Stereolab, while latter day influences, like Mogwai and Black Sabbath, and a lifetime of collecting obscure underground hip-hop records notably seep into their symbiotic chaos.
The Measure In Mixture combines spastic krautrock beats with the grandeur of an Ennio Morricone soundtrack on a Boards of Canada sonic landscape. Thislimited edition 12"also features two bass-heavy remixes from Aesop Rock, one of which he also graces with his distinguished brand of dense wordplay and dark sense of humor. Ultimately, a must-have for crate-diggers all over the world.

For the first time, the majority of production is handled by Aesop Rock himself, although long-term collaborator Blockhead contributes three tracks and one is provided by Definitive Jux label boss El-P. Significant vocal guest appearances are made by El-P and fellow Def Jux labelmates Party Fun Action Committee and Mr. Lif as well as by 1990s Bronx hip-hop duo Camp Lo. There are also brief vocal cameos (credited on the sleeve as "Additional Trash Talking and Malarchy" [sic]) by Cannibal Ox, S.A. Smash, and Murs. Scratching is handled by DJ Cip One of Cannibal Ox and DJ Pawl of Hangar 18. Much of the instrumentals for the introduction track, "Bazooka Tooth," were done by Jer of Party Fun Action Committee using standard pots and pans. The cover is by Israeli artist Tomer Hanuka.

The Yes And The Y'All
In 2000, Aesop Rock released his first official album, Float, following his steady ascent in the underground from two previous releases, the collection of works CD of lore, Music For Earthworms (1997), and the Appleseed EP (1999). And, while every album Aesop has done since then has captured his continual evolution as both a producer and a writer, Float was undeniably exceptional in its own right.
For one, there was something impacting about a full-length album, 20 tracks deep, that never had any singles. Every track only existed as part of the album experience. That in mind, the album’s production is split nearly in half between Aesop Rock and longtime collaborator and good friend, Blockhead, as well as one offering from Omega One, the Reggae-vibed “Skip Town”. The album’s production largely seems to have one collective goal, to immediately capture the intended mood, luring the listener in and leaving them attentive and prepared for the carefully crafted accompanying lyricism.
Lyrics in mind, Aesop Rock is clearly the star of the record, but the few guest appearances, strategically spread throughout the album, are either the result of great foresight or unavoidable synergy—perhaps both—as Slug (of Atmosphere), Vast Aire (of Cannibal Ox), and Dose One were all right in the midst, or directly on the verge, of breakthrough career moments of their own around the same time they were featured on Float. As for Aesop, the album finds him diving deep into his intricate, visually descriptive and emotionally riveting writing style, which has only gotten more vigorous and diverse over time. His delivery feels settled into the hints of urgency, as if he is well aware that the journey and challenges, as well as triumphs, that he shall face are arduous and plentiful.
Appleseed by Aesop Rock is the second of two self-released CDs before his first album, Float. The artwork for this EP was by Aesop Rock and Neal Usatin.

"All Day: Nike+ Original Run" CD
All Day: Nike+ Original Run is an original composition written and produced by Aesop Rock, commissioned by Nike for the Original Run series
Aesop Rock said, "I wanted to create something that evolved enough that the sound was constantly fresh and attractive, as if the runner were moving through a set of differing cities or landscapes"
1. All Day: Nike+ Original Run (Continuous Mix)
"The Blob is 32 minutes of beats & sounds that have otherwise been orphaned by their hell-bound father. It is largely unmixed and occasionally offensive. James Lynch played bass on the one that sounds like an elf orgy. Allyson Baker played guitar on the last one. Mastered by Joey Raia." - Aesop Rock
